Dream Target Collaborations

The uproar has finally died down over the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection. Lines were long, stores were mobbed, the website was crashed, and of course, greedy fashionistas got more than they needed to resell and make a quick buck on eBay.  The collection sold out within the first day of being available, and budget-conscious fashion lovers took to the internet to voice their displeasure. All in all, it was another successful collaboration for Target. Their hotly anticipated limited edition designers collections are becoming cultural events that get bigger and bigger each time. There have been some awesome designers involved (we’re looking at you Philip Lim and Zac Posen!) but we have a few designers on our list that we’d love to see in a Target Collaboration.

halston dress

This brand was the go-to name in the 1970s and was known for it’s celebrity following, Studio 54 ready style, and timeless fragrance. After a few missteps (who turns down Bergdorfs???) and some ownership changes, Halston re-emerged as Halston Heritage, and has quickly proved that they still know a thing or three about classic style. It might be a stretch, but they could do a capsule line with Target FOR SURE.

Tom Ford

Yes, we’re using a picture of Tom Ford. He’s dapper as hell.

We know it’s a total pipe dream. Tom Ford is the man behind the resurgence of Gucci in the 90s, the insanely beautiful Tom Ford collection, and he managed to create and direct and Oscar-nominated (and winning!) movie with his directorial debut. The man has serious talent. But it’s his obsessive attention to detail and the ways his clothes seem to worship the women that wear them that makes you just want to own a piece, any piece, of his fashion line. Because his clothes are pretty much reserved for celebrities, we don’t see why he couldn’t do a beauty/shoes/handbags collection just for Target. We can dream, right??

Stella McCartney

She’s the queen of clothes with conscious! After leading the creative team at Chloé for 5 years, Stella launched her own collection in 2001. She chooses to use no fur or leather in her clothes, and has led the charge to bring sustainable fashion to the world. Her clothes are miminalist chic with a twist, and she makes amazing pieces that look great without being fussy. It would be great to see her partner with Target and bring some eco-friendly and socially conscious designs to the masses.

Christian Siriano

This one might actually be a reality! Christian is no stranger to collaborations, having designed limited edition lines for Payless, Victoria’s Secret, and HSN. His bold, colorful, and (dare we say it) FIERCE designs would be a perfect fit for a Target collaboration! In fact, he could be the new go-to designer that does a new collection each season for Target, like Isaac Mizrahi did back in 2003. Give us a call Target; we’ve got it all planned out.

Honorable Mention

Manolo Blahnik

manolo blahnik

Remember when Sex and the City was on, and there was no bigger name in shoes than Manolo Blahnik? With designers like Christian Louboutin and Brian Atwood getting more and more attention, Manolo Blahnik has lost a bit of their luster. What better way to bring back their name to the masses than with a one-time shoe collection for Target? We’d totally stand in line for this collaboration!

What designer would you like to see partner with Target?
