Getting Back to Basics: The Philosphy Behind Our Basics Checklist

“This blog is part of a series inspired by our Basics Checklist: The 33 Wardrobe Items You MUST Own.  Get in on the fun and download your free copy.”

Welcome to our Back to Basics Series! We just launched our new Basics Checklist, and we’re so excited to share it with all of our fashion-loving friends.

Capsules wardrobes have started gaining a ton of popularity. Bloggers like Carolyn from Un-Fancy, and Milica from Moi Minnie have built their entire online presence around the desire for LESS. More and more women are opting to remix instead of add to their wardrobe, and our constant cries of “I have nothing to wear!” clash with our bursting closets.

So what’s going on? What’s the real issue? Why do we have closets full of clothes that don’t really speak to us and our style?

The problem is that we don’t buy with intention. We shop for fun and on impulse, but we don’t always seek out the pieces that would actually fit in our wardrobe and in our style. That’s why we created our Basics Checklist! In order to build a wardrobe that suits your style, your needs, and your budget, you have to start shopping with intention and make a plan.

Planning your wardrobe is a lot like planning your budget; just like every dollar in your budget has a job to do (whether it’s savings, groceries, the water bill, or your monthly eyebrow appointment), every item in your closet serves a purpose and fulfills a sartorial need. There is freedom in structure, and having a checklist helps you zero in on the areas that need attention and determine the holes in your closet that need to be filled.

Q: But Fling Fashions, my closet is a mess! Will this Basics Checklist help me?

A: YES! This checklist can work for anyone, and it’s especially great for people who:

  • Feel like they have nothing to wear despite a large assortment of clothes
  • Get overwhelmed when shopping
  • Are unsure of the items needed to create a solid wardrobe foundation
  • Are tired of buying a piece of clothing only to shell out more $ to make it work with the rest of your wardrobe
  • Have gone through a personal transformation and need a wardrobe overhaul to refect the new you.
  • Like keeping up with fashion trends but find it difficult to apply without feeling like a teenager.

So if you are ready to take your wardrobe to the next level, tame your troublesome closet, and get the most out of your shopping budget, download our Basics Checklist right now. We can’t wait to hear your shopping stories!

Stay tuned for more in our Back to Basics series!
