cleanout is coming

But then the excitement wore off.  You had to work late. You had a fight with your BFF and needed to sleep off the pain. You missed a crucial episode of your latest Netflix binge, so you might as well watch the whole season again and…WHAT’S SO WRONG WITH MY CLOSET ANYWAY???

you dont know my life

We get it. We aren’t judging you or your closet. But let’s get real.  How many times have you stood in your closet and asked yourself, Why do I have so many clothes and nothing to wear???

Before you talk yourself out of getting to work on your closet and your Basics Checklist, here are a few reasons to give it a try.

Why to use a basics check list - blog image

  • Statistics show that most women only wear 20% of the clothing they own.  Your time is one of your most valuable assets, and with a closet full of garments you never wear, you will get a new appreciation for all the wasted time, frustration, and money involved in the everyday struggle to pull together an outfit!
  • Having a well-curated closet full of items that you love and need will save you time and money. Getting dressed will be less trial and error, and impulse buying stuff you don’t really need will be a thing of the past!
  • Yes – fashion trends are an essential way to modernize your wardrobe, but they shouldn’t rule your closet! We believe in building a wardrobe that stands the test of time, with Basics that reflect your true personal style.  Therefore, auditing your closet is crucial to finding and maintaining your style.
  • Let’s be honest; your closet isn’t going to magically double in size overnight. Cleaning out the items you don’t wear/need and getting Back to Basics will free up space and rid you of clutter. A clear closet and a clear mind!

Ready, Set, Go!

Before you go through the process of auditing your closet, the most important thing you need to do is remind yourself of who you are TODAY.  You will need to look at your clothing through the eyes of the person you are right now.  Not the girl of your past, or a version of you that is 10 pounds lighter, but the WOMAN of TODAY!

In our next blog in this series, we will give you tips for using the Basics Checklist to fully audit your closet.  Until then, we encourage you to start by assessing the clothing you have accumulated over the years. Immediately put the clothes that no longer fit you (by way of size or style) into a pile.  This simple exercise will better prepare you for when we really start to dive in to your closet audit!

See you next time!

If you haven’t already, download your copy of the Basics Checklist now and start creating a closet that meets all of your style needs!
