There’s nothing better than a weekend getaway! Whether you are taking a romantic trip with your honey, a girl’s trip with your closest friends, or a trip to visit some family, it’s always exciting to be somewhere new, doing new things. What isn’t fun is trying to determine what wardrobe pieces are worthy of being in your weekend bag. How do you know what you’ll need for any occasion? What if you don’t have enough shoes? What if you get invited to a gala? What if there’s an impromptu pool party? What if it snows?
First, clear your mind of the what ifs. Chances are, nothing crazy is going to happen. And if there is a mysterious ball invite or a massive rainstorm, there is bound to be a shop to visit that can help you out. So pack for what you do know not what might happen.
Take pieces that pull double duty. Let’s be honest; most of us wear our jeans at least twice before we wash them. So you really only need one pair. Take a dress that can be worn more than one way (like our 4 Way Reversible LBD!) and can be used for a dressy dinner, or a casual day shopping around.
Bring your easy care items. There’s nothing more annoying than having to take extra special care of your clothes when you are away from home. Avoid fabrics that are easily wrinkled and don’t travel well. No one wants to spend their precious trip time with an iron in their hand!
Pack the shoes you need. Be realistic about what you’ll be doing; if you will be walking around some wineries or shopping in a little town, you’ll want comfortable walking shoes, not your favorite wedges with a 4″ heel. Be practical and save your feet the pain of the wrong shoes.
Be realistic about space. You’re only going to be gone for the weekend, which means you aren’t going to bring a giant suitcase and a bunch of bags. Limit yourself to one weekend or carry on bag; trust us, you won’t need more than that.
Load up on accessories. If you will be wearing a t-shirt and jeans everyday, all you have to do is add a few accessories to change up your look. Pack scarves, belts and jewelry to give yourself a new look and feel each day that you are away. Plus, they take up a lot less space than extra clothes and shoes.
*Bonus Tip* Bring an extra change of (under)clothes. You just never know what could happen to your bra/socks/underwear. Be prepared with a spare set!
