Shop Your Closet For Summer

Summer is in full swing and that means fall and winter clothes are the last thing on your mind! After you’ve put away those cold weather clothes, it can feel like you have NOTHING left to wear for the summer. Before you panic and start buying a ton of new pieces, take a deep breath and second look in your wardrobe. Many of the pieces you have will work for any season. All you need is a few tips, and maybe some summery accessories to feel like you have an entirely new wardrobe.

Tip #1: Peel back the layers.

Winter months are all about layering. Tights, leggings, cardigans, blazers…… all of these are artfully layered to keep us fashionably warm. But stripping out the layers will leave you with a stylish look. That pencil skirt is still great for summer. But instead of a long-sleeve sweater and tights, try cute wedges and a short sleeve t-shirt with a mirror belt for some sparkle.

Tip #2: Embrace neutral and dark colors.

Just because it is summer doesn’t mean all of your black/gray/navy clothes have to be relegated to the back of the closet until it cools down. Lighten up those colors with just a few tweaks to get them summer ready. Your favorite black dress paired with some bright bangles, and cute sandals is perfect for the warmer weather.

Tip #3: Basics are year round.

Some items will serve you no matter what time of year it is. A crisp white button down shirt, a tailored pair of dress pants, and a stylish wrap dress are ready-to-wear no matter what time of year it is. Add in a summery infinity scarf or a fun statement necklace and take those classic pieces out of winter and into summer.
